Best Habits To Start Your Day Right!

A new day is a fresh start. To quote, “How you start your day is how you’re going to live your day. And how you live your day is the way you live your life”. Our morning routines play an enormous role in helping us to perform our best and to achieve a healthy state of mind and body. We’d like to offer a short list of items that should be good habits to pick up:

1. Don’t hit the snooze button

Although it is all so tempting to continue your sleep after your alarm goes off for the first time to grab and extra 5-10 minutes of snooze, ASAP Science explains that your sleep cycle is already disturbed after you hit snooze and drift off, your brain starts its sleep cycle all over again. When the alarm goes off a second time, you’re likely at an even deeper, earlier part of your sleep cycle, which results in you feeling even worse than you did the first time.

2. Drink a large glass of water

After a night’s sleep, our bodies are slightly dehydrated and starting your day with a large glass of water helps kick start our metabolism, removes toxins and increases energy levels as dehydration causes fatigue. Menshealth.com recommends about 16 ounces, approximately half a liter first thing in the morning.

3. Eat a good breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skipping breakfast has been proven to increase likelihood of binging and unhealthy snacking later in the day and studies have also showed a higher risk of obesity. Also, nourishing our body with good “fuel” will increase our energy levels and reduce feelings of fatigue and improve our productivity throughout the day. 4. Take a shower

Showering in the morning helps the body gets out of sleep mode and makes us feel more awake, more alert, and definitely more fit to start the day. It’s also a good idea to clean your body first thing in the morning as an early bath increases immunity and a warm shower can also help relax tense muscles.

5. Plan your day

Self-help author Alan Lakein once wrote,”Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Needlessly wasted time most often occurs between tasks. You can get back more time in the day if you know exactly what you need to be doing next. Taking 15 – 30 minutes to write a “To Do” list for the day and arranging tasks in order of priority will help keep us focused on what’s important. Don’t forget to add in quality time with family and love ones, or even walking the dog.

Try incorporating these daily starters into your morning. We believe that it’ll make a positive difference in all mind, body and spiritual areas of your life. Stick to it for 30 days, the period that scientific studies have shown required to develop a new habit, and you may be amazed by yourself!
